day 2 ... part 2

Day 2 (tuesday)

The girls are pretty tired and sore today. We are finding out the pros and cons of bio-freeze.

We have 2 more girls to add to our list of All American Nominees ... Congrats to Raylynn and Ashley.

Here are a few pictures from today and a couple videos of the cheers they learned this morning. As you can see in the advanced cheer, Nicki - Jordan - Bethany and Megan were the only ones in the whole camp who were brave enough to try it. Good work girls!!

Here are pictures and a video from Monday. Aren't the jerseys cute?

Day 1

We made it to Lincoln!! The girls really seem to be adjusting to dorm life full of smelly rooms, gross floors and community showers - ha ha. We have had a full and eventful (in a good way) day. Here's a little recap of our day ....

We arrived at about noon, moved our 200 pound bags to the 2nd floor, unpacked and decorated our rooms. Camp got started at 2:00 and there are about 12 squads here. The girls learned the spirit dance, camp cheer and camp chant, had an opportunity to meet with their buddy (Alysa), practice, practice and practice, do their 1st information evaluation and participate in jump class. WOW - for only 6 hours thats alot!! Do you think the girls will be tired enough to go to bed early tonight ..... I think not!!! ha ha.

Tomorrow we will learn more routines, cheers and chants as well as have another jump class. We also have our first formal evaluation tomorrow evening.

We have had lots of exciting times too ... can you believe we have already won awards and had not 1, not 2, not 3, NOT 4 .... but
5 All American nominees!!! Woot Woot!
Congratulations to
Nicki - Megan - Jordan - Sierra - Brooke

And here is the really cool part .... our very own Nicki was the first one in the entire camp to receive the first camp nomination .....................for the 4th year in a row. What an honor - I am so proud of her! Id be hard pressed to find anyone, anywhere who can also claim that title.

The girls also won the Herkie Award which is a HUGE honor!! All the other squads at camp vote on one squad who "exemplifies the qualities on which NCA was founded ... leadership, values, teamwork and sportsmanship" Congrats girls!

We had our first informal evaluation on our camp cheer and chant. We were awarded an Outstanding ribbon for our cheer (which actually means we have some work to do) and an Excellent ribbon for our chant. There are 3 options for ribbons - Outstanding, Excellent and Superior (ill let you do the math here on what means what). Tomorrow is our formal evaluation and Im sure we will bring back at least 2 Excellents and maybe even a superior.

Our last award was a SPIRIT STICK!! Traditionally the 1st day is the hardest day to win a spirit stick and there were only 5 given out today, so way to go girls!!!

please feel free to leave a response to this or any posts this week to wish the girls good luck or congratulate them on a job well done.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout this week please dont hesitate to call me.

Ill be posting pictures and videos soon, but wanted to at least get the info up for you all.

ps ... its 11:25 and the girls are STILL not in bed, apparently Ill have to make sure they work harder tomorrow so they crash a little earlier :)

until tomorrow ....
